How to disable powerups? The settings context menu does not appear.

Matthew Brandt October 1, 2024

When clicking the "settings" button on enabled powerups in our Trello board (where I am admin) I am unable to see the context menu to disable/remove powerups. MacOS 14.6.1, latest Brave browser, also tried on Safari latest. Can someone please explain how to get rid of powerups?! It's very frustrating to try one out and not be able to disable/remove it...

Hi @Matthew Brandt can you share a screenshot of the settings button you're clicking? and which power up you're trying to remove?  There are several different locations within Trello where you can perform this action and I want to try and reproduce the issue you're seeing. Thanks!

Hi Andrea! Thanks for the quick response :)

I've tried two different locations so far.

1. The top navigation bar

2. Within the "Power-Ups" menu

Hi @Andrea Crawford I haven't heard back from you on this, but I've asked 2 colleagues with identical permissions to try this and they have also been unable to remove the powerups. I'd like to get this resolved as soon as possible since the card view is so cluttered that it's quite tedious to work in the board right now.

Hi @Matthew Brandt I apologize for missing your reply with screenshots. I'm not able to reproduce this issue still and am very puzzled by what you're experiencing. Are you able to open your browser console and let me know if you see any errors when you click "disable"  within the power up settings menu? I believe in Brave you can access the developer console with command + option  + i. Let me know if that turns up anything.

Matthew Brandt October 28, 2024

@Andrea Crawford thanks for your response - I did check the developer console and don't see any related errors. I am also very confused by this behaviour, since my 2 colleagues tried in Safari/Chrome and were also not able to disable power-ups.

@Matthew Brandt Is this happening only on a single board? If so, can you share the board short id with me, you'll find it here.... trello.com/b/shortId/name-of-board - and I can see if there's anything I can do on my end to figure out what's going on. If it's multiple boards, are they all in a single workspace?

Awaiting your reply...

@Andrea Crawford good question! So far we have only observed this on a single board (id: CuJ1XbuJ) but I just created a new board to test your theory and it works there! So it seems like this board has some kind of issue! If you could help me get it resolved that would be great!

@Matthew Brandt Thank you for your patience. I'm anticipating that the fix for this issue will be released tomorrow, but I'll jump back into this thread and let you know for sure once it is released so you can confirm if you're unblocked Again, thank you for providing me with the info needed to troubleshoot and get to the bottom of this issue.

@Matthew Brandt The fix for this issue has been released. Can you refresh Trello, then try again to remove the power up and let me know if you are still encountering issues? Thanks!

Matthew Brandt October 29, 2024

@Andrea Crawford success!! Thank you very much for fixing that. As someone who is quite technical, I am very curious what the issue with this specific board was, but it's also not important if you cannot share it. Thank you again :)

@Matthew Brandt the issue impacted a small number of boards across Trello users, so not just yours. Glad we got it resolved.
