Customise view by card

Mike Flood February 8, 2019

Hi can anyone help with this?

We are trying to get our company owner to view Trello and get away from issuing monthly Excel 'Issues and action worksheets' but without success. He wants to be able to see a spreadsheet with Location (Board) and the tasks (cards) beneath each location - we want to just use dynamic cards.

He can't get his head round opening boards to view so I am looking for a way for him to see a list of cards where: he is a member; sorted ideally by Team then by Board; only showing live boards (not completed).

There is the ability to see cards listed by clicking on your name top right then selecting Cards but it doesn't have sufficient filters to do the above - any ideas?

Hi @Mike Flood have you considered using the Trello Power-Up Placker? It may meet your needs if your company owner is used to seeing Gantt Charts and Dashboards:

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks,

Hi Jodi, thanks for this, that does look a great tool and something which would be good for our specific projects but in this instance we're looking for a 'lighter' solution.

Hi @Mike Flood you could create one board for the owner that displays one summary card for each project. Using the Unito power-up you can still work on these cards in your collaboration boards and they will sync to the owner's board. When the owner wants to look at the status of a project they just open their board, click on that one card for the most recent status update, or you could ensure that the card always has the most up to date status in the title of that card. Having one card per project in the owner's board will display a bulletin board style summary of all projects, keeping things simplistic, with an at a glance snapshot. Here is a blog post on how unito power-up works:

Please let me know if this helps.

Thanks,

Another option would be to check out the https://trello.com/inspiration boards to see if there is a format already created that would work for you. If you see something you like you can just click on "copy board" in the header and then you can tailor the lists and cards to suit your needs.

Thanks,

Jodi

Hi @Mike Flood did this solution work for you?

Thank you,

Jodi

Hi Jodi, yes kind of, given the additional cost for the power up it actually prompted him to simply use the view by card (albeit not ideal), so all resolved.

Thanks again for your help.
