I want to create a shared contact list within Trello. I tried creating a board with 26 lists for each letter of the alphabet. Each contact would be a card. I added the necessary custom fields, but I need a way to search by any information in the custom fields. I can't seem to find a proper way to search by field information. I am open to any better way to do this within Trello.
@David Berri the "in board search" which used to be called filtering matches custom fields but the "search all boards" feature in the top left doesn't:

However you might also like the Crmble powerup instead which gives you an easy way to see all your data in a list/spreadsheet view:

There is Contalist Power Up that you might want to consider. Using their web form, you can create a card with the form content in card description and using can use a Butler or a http request / webhook to get all of them into Butler via the httpresponse variable. Further more there are email templates, action and automation you can do with your contacts.
Same contact list can be used on any board. Worked with them to get some interesting enhancements into the Power Up.

Well.. According to this documentation - https://help.trello.com/article/1160-custom-field-variables ...
The value of a custom field can be obtained by using a variable in the form {{%Field Name}}.
So I guess you should use something like this {{%Field Name}}=something

I just did a quick test.. Added Price custom field and 3 values A, B, C and were able to filter Cards with C value by using {{%Price}}="C"
You just need to use Show Menu > Search Cards feature

That's not working for me, Mirek. For example, I have a custom field called "Person". If I search for {{%Person}}="Bill", yes, it does return cards with that custom field, but it also returns cards without a custom field that have "Bill" in the title. And if I search for a custom field that doesn't even exist, for example "Date" -- searching for {{%Date}}="Bill" still finds all the instances of "Bill" in the custom field "Person" and in the card title. Am I missing something in your explanation?
