Card repeater not repeating all cards

Tim Hall July 5, 2024

I have a set of cards that repeat daily.  For the last couple of days (definitely yesterday and today, possibly longer) only about half of them have repeated.  This is actually worse than the case a couple of months ago when no cards repeated - at least then we had a predictable situation

Hello, Tim!

Welcome to the community!

I just tested and it's currently working. However, we did have a HOT this week related to API, and Card Repeater was affected.

Could you check if it's normal again? If not, let's troubleshoot your Power-Up.

Kind regards,

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

No, it is still not working correctly.

I've done a little further investigation, and I can see that the relevant cards are no longer shown as having a repeat on them.  Looking at the activity history I can see that the last successful repeat of these cards was on the morning (UK time) of July 3rd.  So at some point between ~6am on July 3rd, and the same time 24hrs later, a bunch of my cards lost their repeats.  Which is less than great.

Need any more info to allow you to look into this?

Thanks

Tim

Hello, Tim!

Can you add the card to repeat once more?

Another test would be to clear your cache and cookies. This should solve any conflict between your browser and Power-Up.

If that doesn't work, let's try starting with a clean slate to see if that helps get the Card Repeater Power-Up working again. Would you mind trying the following steps for me, please?

  1. Go to the board where this Power-Up is enabled.
  2. Open the Board Menu and select the Card Repeater Power-Up.
  3. Select Remove personal settings and Disable the Power-Up. Don't worry. You won't lose any card set with the Power-Up.
  4. Go to https://trello.com/my/account
  5. Under the Applications section, select Revoke under any entries for Card Repeater (if any are found).

After that, go ahead and reenable the Power-Up and follow the authorization flow. Can you please let me know how that goes?

Alternatively, a possible workaround would be to use Automation to create cards using a Scheduled rule. We have more information about this new functionality below:

An example of a scheduled automation could be:
Every 2 weeks on Monday, find card [card title] and copy it in list [list name]

I hope that helps! Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

Kind Regards,

Hi Alisson,

Thanks for all that.  I just want to make sure that you've understood that it's only _some_ cards on that board that have lost the repeat.  Other cards are still repeating fine.  Just mentioning it in case that influences the likelihood of any of your suggestions (e.g. something like cookies/cache feels more broadly scoped than individual cards).

I've found one of the broken cards, added the repeat back in, and it has repeated successfully.  So it feels like the issue is that your database of my cards has got corrupted somehow.  Or maybe there's a less-awful explanation that that - hope so!

Obviously I could painstakingly go through and try to spot every card that is no longer repeating and reenable them (which will get quite difficult with cards that are on long duration repeat e.g. annual). Hoping there might be a better way...
