Can't promote board member to admin, thus can't leave the board

Hi, I'm using Trello free tier. There's a board which i'm the owner and it's in a free workspace which i also own. My goal is to transfer ownership of this board to another member and leave it. When i promote someone to admin in board settings, it says member promoted to admin successfully but they still appear as normal member. And since i'm the only admin it won't let me leave the board. I tried removing the member and adding them to the board again directly as an admin and even though i get a notification saying "added x person as admin" they appear as member again. Please help, thank you.

Maybe the Trello user you have promoted needs to accept this on their end to complete the process? Give it a try and let us know if this did the trick.
