Can't change my email address

I'm trying to change my email address on Trello to one I more commonly use.

When I do that, I get a message saying the new email address is already in use, but when I try to log in with that email address, it tries to sign me up for a new account.

So it doesn't appear I have an account with that email address, but atlassian thinks I do.

Any help gratefully received.

Hi Karen, 

Welcome to the community, 

Trello uses your Atlassian account to log in. You have an Atlassian account under the new email which is why you're seeing this message, you have two workarounds:

1- Reset the password of the new account, log in, and delete the account. You'll need to wait for the deletion period of 14 days to be permanently deleted, after this you can change your email from the other account to the new one. -Be careful, deleting your account will delete everything on it, including other Atlassian products, such as Jira, Confluence, etc... All Atlassian products use the same account. 

You can also change the email from the account using the new email to a third email, this will release the email immediately to be used.

2- Manually transfer the boards and Workspaces to the new account, then abandon the old one (or delete it) and continue to use the new email. You can reset your password to gain access to the account with the new email.

You can invite the new email and then remove the old one from the board/Workspace
