Trello Export: How to export your Trello boards in seconds

When you use Trello as a project management tool, exporting data is usually a must. We make reports for the top management, share information with clients, or simply want to aggregate data for better productivity analysis with the means of Excel or other tools.

Planyway power-up is a resource management, project planning and time tracking app with lots of truly handy features that also includes exporting solution. But why use Planyway export instead of Trello’s?

First, with Planyway you get a chance to export multiple boards at a time and filter data beforehand to export only what you need rather than extracting all board information.

Secondly, because of a much cheaper price comparing to Trello Premium (export is not available for free users). You’ll get a huge range of additional functionality which is not present in Trello.

How to export Trello data in Excel or CSV files

Planyway lets you choose what information to extract. So if you don’t want to export all the data, set the following parameters:

Filters. Export tasks assigned to certain members, tagged by certain labels, and added to certain lists.

Completed cards. As with Planyway you can mark cards as compete, then you may choose to extract all cards, completed or incomplete.

View settings. You’re free to choose if you’d like to export archived cards, check items, time entries (time tracking is another feature of Planyway) and milestones or not.

Connected boards and calendars. Connect boards and external calendar s like Google Calendar, Outlook, etc. and export tasks from multiple boards or calendars at once.

When you set all filters you need, click Export to Excel or Export to CSV and select the date period. You’ll get the Excel or CSV file on your computer. Here’s the instruction on how to open the downloaded file in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

How to export Trello data with JSON

If you’d like to import data from Trello to other tools, you can use JSON, which is available in Planyway even in the free plan. Go to Integrations and select to sync data in JSON format.
