Move component outage history from a component to another one in Statuspage

Hi Atlassian Community,

We currently have 2 components in Statuspage that we want to merge.

“Example- SaaS (US) - Do not use” need to move the outage history to “Example- SaaS (US)”

is this action possible in Statuspage? How can I complete this process ?

Thanks in advance!

Hello Carolina,

This is Jesse from the Statuspage support team. Thanks for reaching out in the community! Components cannot really be merged together. The closest thing would be to take the uptime from one component and then put that uptime onto another component. The only API we have, however, is to GET component data. the https://developer.statuspage.io/#operation/getPagesPageIdComponentsComponentIdUptime

You would essentially need to manually update the component you're looking to keep, which is not really ideal if you have a lot of data to upload. The other downside is that this does not link the components to the incidents.

Can you help me understand your use case for why you want to remove one of the components? What we typically recommend is keepings the component on the page for at least 90 days without any activity, copying the uptime data, and then finally deleting the component. This way, you still have the data for yourselves and you can remove the component. Hopefully that is somewhat helpful for keeping the data of that component.

Regards,
Jesse
