remove items from view of unstaged

files that may have been temporary and then deleted or re-named show up in unstaged. I need to move to staged in order to commit, but need to sort through garbage. Even things from other branches that I am not currently logged into. I do not want to exclude a file type (i  can do that) what I want is to tag particular files not to continuously clutter my unstaged list. Is this doable?
