SourceTree crashes when I try to commit

I have recently installed SourceTree but it crashes every time I try to commit. Is there something I have not done properly with the installation?

If you recently installed, you are likely on version 3.2.6. I had this problem on this version and so did any of my teammates that used that version. Our solution was to download version 3.1.3 from the archives https://www.sourcetreeapp.com/download-archives
