Does Sourcetree work with github enterprise, or do you need sourcetree enterprise?

cedoucette January 24, 2020

I have a fairly recent version of SourceTree.

I've used the product for a long time and love it.

I can use it to do most operations with GitHub Enterperise with the regular SourceTree product, *except* open a PR (which attempts to open a URL on Github).

I was surprised to see that checkout fails to go to the proper URL.

I wanted to report a bug - but then I saw that there is a completely separate product called SourceTree Enterprise.

So, can I perform a PR from GHE with regular SourceTree, or must I get SourceTree Enterprise? Realize that I have a Mac, so I can't use a Windows version of SourceTree Enterprise.

Hi cedoucette,

Sourcetree (3.0+) does have GitHub Enterprise. From the SourceTree release notes:

Sourcetree 3.0 Overview

  • Support for additional hosting services (SSH, Repos, Avatars, PRs)
    • GitHub Enterprise
    • GitLab (Cloud, CE, EE)
    • Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS)
  • Use Bitbucket Cloud to register
  • Update to embedded Git 2.18.0
  • Update to embedded Mercurial 4.6

I am able to clone repositories from GHE. For some reason, when I open a PR on a branch in a repository which was cloned from GHE, it opens a web page on github.com, and not on our GHE url (in the origin URL).

That seems like a bug to me.

I thought SourceTree Enterprise might fix any issues like that - but I can't install it on a Mac.
