Finding a variable in a confluence template

We have very complex and long templates for our work instructions created on Confluence. I am looking for where a certain variable is used within the template, when I edit the template and search for the variable by name, nothing is found. How can I do a search for a variable in a confluence template?

Hi @Robin Raben

In the edit mode, a variable is an image. This means, you can not search for this string.

I found a way to search the template, but you need a little bit HTML skills.

  • Use a browser which have "developer tools" (Chrome is perfect for this)
  • Open the template in edit mode
  • click F12 to open the dev modes. Alternatively you can open the dev tools from the menu
  • search the variable as shwon in the printscreen.

This should find several positions. Search till you find your variable.

Regards, Dominic

thanks - appreciate the help
