Receiving timeout error when trying to configure mail account

I keep getting the following error:

Connecting to mail store failed: Connect failed; nested exception is: connect timed out

I have checked and I can connect to the gmail server using telnet. Anyone know what this issue could be?

Hi there,

Many users has reported this error due to having virus/firewall installed on their machine. You can try adding java.exe and javaw.exe to the exception list of the firewall or antivirus (if you have one) and verify whether this resolve the problem. Alternatively, you can disable the firewall/antivirus while you test again to verify this.
