how to show a dialog loading indicator with AUI

Morning...

I'm using AJS.Dialog to show a dialog. However, the dialog content is retrieved from the server when the trigger is clicked. This takes ~ 1 sec, and there is no indication that it's loading. I'm worrying people are going to think they missed the link and click it several times.

Is there some recommended method of solving this? I want to use AJS.dim(), and JIRA.Loading.showLoadingIndicator() however this second one is not in AUI. I feel like this should be built-in to AJS.dialog.

I did this by pulling out Loading.js and .less from jira, and adding them to my app. Looks great, but imho this should be added to AUI.
