Will we lose data if we import into an existing JIRA installation?

We are in the process of upgrading our own hosted JIRA system to the latest version.

We are also using JIRA ondemand.

We would like to import out JIRA installation in the next few months and migrate all old projects to JIRA ondemand.

Do we need to have an empty JIRA ondemand installation to migrate too, or is it ok to have projects already in existence on JIRA ondemand?

All data prior the import (project, issues, workflows, etc) will be lost.
