Transfer of attachments from one server to another server

Hi,

  We are planning to migrate some of the projects from one server to another server , the issue would be related to attachments which is huge in size. Can you please let me know possible ways to reduce/restrict the size of attachments while sharing or any other possible scenarios which came across while migration.
