Hi,
I'm evaluating "Structure for JIRA" plugin, installed on my 7.6.1 server
And try to create a structure which organized my Epics into 3 levels:
- Level 1 : Epic
- Level 2: Epic
- Level 3: Sub-Task of Epic
I had a list of Epics as a flat list in my project. And I could see them in Structure view, but when I tried to indent the children epic (Level2) under the parent Epic (Level 1), I always got the error
"Epics cannot be added to other epics. You were moving Issue DDD-xxxx) ...."
Acknowledge
I assume that Structure allowed us to add epic to another epic, is that correct?
Why mine was not?
Thanks
Thank you for the answer.
I got that fixed by adding the correct extender for link issues.
The remaining problem is that it is asking to select whether I want to create link or just add the issue under the epic EVERY TIME I works with the Epic in the Structure (like indenting the epic under the parent).
How can we set default: for ex:
- If Epic is indented under parent Epic, use create link between Epics
- If Story is indented under parent Epic, use Add Issue belong to Epic
?
Hi Hung,
Again, a more in-depth response is in the ticket, I must just note that if there are two or more valid connections using Structure, the Structure will ask to select those. Idea of "default" behavior for certain issue types is interesting, I will share it with Structure product management.

Egor

Hi Hung,
I've answered in few more details in your ticket with our Service Desk, but let me just note here that Epics can connect to other Epics though issue links, and you can add an extender to that effect in your structure.
