In our situation the documentation is stored in the Bitbucket archive alongside the code.
We link to the Bitbucket server (which is connected via application links) but without the Bitbucket code archive being public the PlantUML does not reproduce the diagrams.
Both Confluence and Bitbucket use Single Sign On

Seems like you are using the add-on PlantUML for Confluence we would suggest you to contact the plugin vendor (avono AG), by the following:

They will be able to provide you with better assistance and help you to solve this problem.
