Insight Discovery

Hi All,

we are considering adding Insight Asset management and discovery to Jira Service Desk but I don't know how we can actually discover the assets with the tool.

We use JIRA SD server version and it is hosted in Azure AD. The server itself is not joined to AAD. There are 8 different sites where we have assets. What i dont understand is how Insight Discovery can discover the assets that are in a local network behind a firewall at different parts of the world? Do I need to set up a workstation/server to do a local discovery and get that copied to my JIRA VM machine? Or do i need to create VPN from each location to Azure so the server can see the local network?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

as you like to gathering data "world wide" I recommend to use an Discovery Instance per "Network".

You have to open the required firewall port for the specific protocols

you can find them here https://documentation.riada.io/display/INSDISC/Discovery+System+Requirements

The Discovery Tool will connect to the systems (WMI, SHH, etc.) and collecting the data.

The result data will be imported to Insight.

I hope that answers your question a bit.

If not I recommend to download the Discovery Tool (trial) and try it out in combination with  our documentation.

And if you still have specific question you can create a Question-Ticket at our portal.

Hi Christian,

I am now trying to scan our linux servers, and we are using ssh private and public keys (ssh-ed25519).

I keep getting the error "cannot connect with credentials", is the ed25519 file not supported when I enter it in the RSA File?

Br,

Marlon
