Having issues making approvals - server error?

When I try to make an approval within confluence I get the following error: 

 

Unable to PUT item: approvals

There was a problem communicating with the server. Please refresh the page and try again.

 

I've tried 20 times with the same issue.  Any idea what the fix could be?

Bit of an old query but in case anyone else has the same problem...

 

I had this issue today, it was caused by the Space permissions being set to not allow editing for the user in question.  Worth checking if anyone comes across this specific error
