how to set resolution automatically when i set a status

Currently we have several issue statuses such as "Cancelled" and "Could Not Reproduce"

 

We want to set a resolution status automatically for each issue that moves to one of those statuses 

 

Alternatively. We would like to set up the resolution field mandatory for closing an issue

You can set the resolution in a post function for the ones you want to set a known resolution. The transition to the close status needs to show the resolution fields on the transition screen. Anytime the resolution field is displayed it is a required field. So just putting it on the transition screen will make it required. It should NEVER be places on the create or edit screens.

You can set it automatically, by creating a Post Function in the workflow.  For the transition to each Status, create a new post-function of type "Update Issue Field".  Then select Resolution as the field to be updated, and choose the required resolution.
