XRAY - Test Set

Guido De Ridder May 10, 2022

hi all

We are new to XRAY and trying to find our way.

One of the questions we have is why we don't see the Test Sets we created via the Repository overview and using 'Create Test Set with Tests' .

We would expect to see it in the overview so that end users can use these to gradually execute these ?  Or are Test plans the only option ?

Hi @Guido De Ridder  -- welcome to the Atlassian Community ;)

TestRepository and TestSets are both concepts of organizing tests within XRAY. Which means both of them will only show TestCases.

I recently wrote an answer to a similar question:

XRAY provides 2 types of organizing your tests:

  • test repository
  • test sets

The test repository organizes  tests within a project in a hierarchical folder (like file system) structure similar to some common test management tools.

Whereas test sets are a (kinda) more dynamic way of organizing your tests. The offer a flat list of tests and tests can be added from other projects. Furthermore 1 test can be added to different test sets (whereas in the test repository 1 test can only exist in 1 folder).

The following link provides a good explanation of both ways:

https://docs.getxray.app/display/XRAYCLOUD/Organizing+Tests

Please let me know if you have any further question or if this answers your question.

Best
Stefan
