It seems there is a current bug in linking issue in Jira software cloud. Maybe you can try it later again. Atlassian is now fixing this bug.

The Jira linking issue has been reported and is currently being worked on, you can also subscribe to get the latest update regarding the incident.

Meanwhile, it's also worth trying incognito or browser safe mode.
