When creating issues from the Epic, the create issue screen is not showing up

Sandy King April 4, 2024

An odd issue that's been showing up the last week for us.

When attempting to create a task from an Epic (Parent) in the Child Issues section and pressing enter, the usual behavior is that the Create Screen for that issue should show up, the parent fields pre-populated and the user must fill in the required field.

Strangely this is now being bypassed for some reason and the ticket entry failing as the required fields are not entered and the validators not correctly fulfilled.

However, it shouldn't be creating the issue until the create Issue screen has been filled in.

Is anyone encountering a similar issue?

I do have some Scriptrunner validators that run on create issue potentially but this would likely be  new issue.

Creating the issue from the Create Button in the Top Bar of Jira works just fine.

It's a bug in Jira Cloud: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-80148

Validators on the create transition are bypassed when adding Story level issues inline on Epics

Workaround to make "Description" field in the Field configuration mandatory for now
