Sort not working in filter results gadget on dashboard

I've seen other posts about this issue but am still not getting the filter results gadget to sort on my dashboard. I want it to always sort by status. I included the sort by in the filter itself but it does not sort in the dashboard gadget.

Any suggestions?

Hi @McCabe, Holly -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

I believe the sort is based on the system configuration ordering of the statuses, and not on the workflow order for any particular board.  You can confirm that by checking with your Jira site admin.

I'm having the same issue with Status and another field. The filter itself has the correct order specified in the query, but the chart on my dashboard does not respect that order.

• It is respected on table type charts that have column-based sorting built-in, but not pie chart legends/data table.

I believe the pie chart gadget's sort is based on the quantity, maximum to minimum.

There are several open suggestions to improve dashboard gadgets, including their filter sort order, but I doubt any of those would be implemented.  You may want to check the Atlassian Marketplace to learn if there are addons which could help create the visualizations you need: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/
