Setting "Story point" value in main task with sub-tasks by using Jira automation

arkadiusz_Niewiadomski October 11, 2024

Hi,
I have a rule that creates a task with 4 sub-tasks. I'd like to edit the "Story Points" field with a desired (always the same) value in main task.

I added the rule to edit the desired field - which was addressed correctly, I'm adding the value to be set but receive a warning about "incompatible components".
I must admit the the warning description doesn't give me a clue what exactly needs to be made to avoid it.

If anyone can suggests any valuable hints I'll be more than happy.
Thanks in advance.

Hi @arkadiusz_Niewiadomski

Welcome to Atlassian Community.

You can try to add the field value while creating the issue.

In the First Then: Create new Task, check for "Choose fields to set" and select the story points field here.

Let me know if it worked.

Hi @pinky_reddy ,

Seems that I've been looking too deeply. The solution is so straightforward and simple that I haven;t even thought of it :)

Many thanks - works like charm
