Setting for the OPTION to collapse comments

Kim Fain April 15, 2021

In our previous instance of JIRA, while comments were NOT collapsed automatically, we had the option to click on the top area of a comment and collapse it if we wanted to.

Is there a setting in the new JIRA where this can be set up?

Thanks in advance.

Hello @Kim Fain ,

In the Customer View on the customer portal, there is not currently a method to expand the comments, and we are tracking interest in adding this in at the following feature request, noting it is flagged as "Not being Considered" at the current time but is on the list for future review, makes sure to add a vote to the request to help influence the decision as covered in the Implementation of New Features Policy :

In the Internal issue view for logged-in users, however, there is a system setting that can configure auto collapse of comments, that is set to 4 by default, so after 4 comments the older comments are collapsed.

To change the setting to show all comments expanded by default:

  1. Go to the Administration cog > System
  2. Select Advanced Settings
    1. located in the upper right of the General Configuration page
  3. Locate the property key
    1. jira.comment.collapsing.minimum.hidden
  4. If you set its value to 0 it will stop the comment from collapsing by default.

Regards,
Earl

Hello Earl,

Is it possible to configure this setting at project level?

On our Jira Data Centre system, some users wish to use this feature in their project and some not. Hence a global setting does not help us here.

Mona
