Setting field formatting via Automation or ScriptRunner

Is it possible to programmatically set field formatting in Jira, whether it's through a jira automation or more likely ScriptRunner?

I'd like to set up a scheduled job where our release fields auto-update the formatting so that the upcoming release is one color and the past release is another color, and all other releases are unformatted. Is this currently possible?

Hi Michael,

Can you provide a screenshot showing which release fields you wish to update?

Once we have this then, we can advise further on whether these could be updated either with ScriptRunner or by using another feature.
