Prevent cloning of certain attributes

Pulkit Gupta November 11, 2024

Use case:

We clone JIRAs where we want a few attributes doesn't get clone but always created as fresh/blank.

As a JIRA admin - is this something that is supported?

Hi @Pulkit Gupta

Welcome to the community.

This is not an option in default cloning option.

2 other options

  1. You can create an automation rule to clone an issue and then define the fields of the new issue and if you want to copy the values from a field of the original issue or leave it blank.
  2. See the Atlassian Marketplace, for cloning apps that can fulfil your need

Hi @Pulkit Gupta

Welcome to the community! If you're looking for more control over which fields are cloned, our app Deep Clone for Jira can be an ideal solution for your use case. With Deep Clone's Field Editor feature, you can selectively exclude certain fields or attributes when cloning issues, allowing you to have certain fields created as fresh or blank each time a clone is made.
