Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding monitoring issues in different projects.

I want to monitor a ticket in my project board linked with the task in another project. I want to get notifications when the ticket status of a task in another project changes, so I can easily track the issues.

Is there a way to get notified?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @Sinem Sutluoglu !

This is a great use-case :-)

This is possible if you are a Jira admin (or know someone who is) via automation!

The image below shows roughly how it could work, but I'll detail out some important pieces below:

  • Trigger: when an issue is transitioned (Can be specific from/to statuses or any/all)
  • IF: make sure to limit the reach of this rule to the project you're interested in
  • IF: check linked issues to the target card and check with JQL that at least one of the linked issues is linked back to your project
  • Then: Send email

There are other things you can add to the IFs so this doesn't run on more issues. There are also a few notification options (email, Slack/Teams, etc.) but not all things are possible OOTB (like in-app or mobile notifications).

It is also very important this is done in global automation and not single project automation and that the scope of the rule is either set to global or multiple for the specific projects that the rule is encompassing.

Hope this helps!
