Missing issue on Backlog, but exist on Timeline

Sandhi Firmadani January 11, 2024

Dear Support,

I use in default mode, no custom field, no filter, no tab, etc, just input Epic and Task on Backlog and it shows automatically on Timeline.

But somehow, some issue is missing in Backlog, but still shows on Timeline:

89 issues on Timeline but only 53 issues shows on Backlog, trying to follow another user's community questions but no luck so far.

This is column and statuses setting and still in default setting:

This is default custom filters:

Any advice?

Thank you

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

A backlog is a function of a board.  Neither of them are issue containers, they are a view of a list of issues.

No "unassigned status" is good, it means your board and backlog can report on everything, but your timeline is a totally different thing - how is that configured?  What is it looking at?

Hi @Nic Brough -Adaptavist- ,

Thank you for the response,

I more convenient using Backlog as my main issue tracker page and hopefuly can show all issues here.

My question is how to show all issues in Backlog and what makes some issues not showing here?

I believe I let everything by default and keep using Backlog since in the beginning.

Example for Epic NSD-28, it shows all 22  issue on "Timeline" and all is "status" assigned:

And here is preview on Backlog, only show 9 issues:

For information, I never thread each issue differently, just input all issues in the Backlog and done.

I do not understand what you mean by "thread each issue differently".

You still need to explain what the board configuration is for the backlog you are using, and what you have set up in the timeline.

Hi @Nic Brough -Adaptavist- ,

Thanks for the reply,

What I mean is, I don't setup any special configuration neither Backlog or Timeline, I use default configuration for Backlog and Timeline, just create Epics and add the issues to the Epic in Backlog.

A backlog should not contain any issues that are done, except for ones in the current sprint.

Hi @Sandhi Firmadani  - Running into the same issue now i.e. I can see the JIRA Ticket in timeline but the same isn't visible in Backlog for some reason.
