JIRA next-gen mail handler: find issues using subject

Lockke May 11, 2021

Hi All!

I am trying to setup Email this issue plugin's Next gen email handler.

I am trying to move away from looking up the issue key on email subject.
Normally we would have people replying on the original email thread and thus multiple tickets are created, and they are spammed with notification mails needlessly.

I thought this would be resolved by setting up next-gen email handlers, but I'm unable to make it work.

I tried using Find issues referenced by the In-Reply-To or References headers but somehow it always creates a new ticket upon reply.

How can I go about this issue?

I would recommend you to try this approach:

*NOTE: UNTESTED ON PRODUCTION.*

(Based on 2 to 3 characters for RE: / RW: / etc)

Hi @Lockke ðŸ‘‹

Welcome to the Community! Hmm that's not what you want, let's see if we can't get to the bottom of this. First off have you taken a look at the vendors documentation >> https://metainf.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/JETIC/pages/50135256/Features

If not I would recommend checking here first. If the answers you seek aren't found here the next best option would be to raise a ticket with the Marketplace Vendor directly, you can do this here via 'submit a support request' >> https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/4977/email-this-issue?hosting=cloud&tab=support

I hope this helps but let me know if you have any other questions 😃

All the best,

Laura
