Hi,
We are using Jira Cloud and looking for an easy way to create release notes.
For public facing release notes, we label issues which should be part of that release note and we also have a custom field with a customer release text for this ticket.
I'm aware of Jira's newer release note generator but it doesn't do the job for us, because I haven't found a way to filter issues based on a label (or anything else really) and use the custom field as ticket description.
Currently we are exporting the results a custom issue filter which has 2 columns - the issue key and the custom description field - to HTML and save it as PDF. Unfortunately the issue key is a link which confuses clients: when they link on it, they won't have access.
So, is there a way to export the results of an issue search where the key is not rendered as a link?
Alternatively would consider a plugin, but I looked at some and they were exceeding what we need.
Or alternative ideas?
Thanks,
Thomas
Another app you can give a try is Better PDF Exporter, which comes with a built-in template for Release Notes. If you need to, you can freely customize the template to fit your requirements!
Hello @Thomas Buckel
I'm not sure if you have looked at the free version of Automated release notes for Jira. If you haven't I'll recommend giving it a try, your use case will be elegantly handled by the app.
You can look at these videos to get a sense of what is possible via the app. If you have any queries, do reach out via our support portal.

Thanks @Anand Inamdar_Amoeboids - I had tried it briefly, but I'm giving it another shot. Seems to be a very comprehensive product - much more than I actually need...

@Thomas Buckel another alternative that came to my mind after reading the original question
Create another custom field that stores just the issue key (without the link). Now use automation for Jira to update this custom field every time an issue is created or moved to a different project. You don't need to show this field anywhere on the issue screen.
Use this custom field instead of issue key in your filter & you should get what you need.
Hope that helps.

Anand
