Hello Folks!
When doing sprint planning, certain subtasks are to be taken care of during a sprint but not necessarily the whole task as we use subtasks to map out the stages of completion for a task.
Does anyone know if there is a way to just assign subtasks to sprints without the parent task?
For context we are using Software Project to utilize the sprint planning functionality - however on a marketing level not on development.
Hi @Tanya Courtney,

The short answer is no, subtasks cannot belong to a sprint separate from its parent. Same thing applies if the parent is in a done status and the subtasks are not, you will not be able to close the sprint.
Thank you very much @Mikael Sandberg ! Curious about your opinion then - would you just suggest we move away from sub-tasking or do you have any other suggestions.

You could either use epics and tasks, or the other option would be to use issue links and link tasks that are related.

I think it is much complicated. A story should have multiple tasks under it, and each task can assign to a specific sprint
