Is it possible to sort Issues and stories within a sprint by the associated Epic name

Our sprint board has user stories associated with various Epics.  We would like to be able to sort those issues by the name so that all issues related to Epic A are grouped together, all issues related to Epic B are group together and so on.  I've seen information on "order by", but not as it might apply to issues in a sprint.

Hi @Tina St_ Pierre -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You may not want to change the board's filter and ORDER BY clause to solve this as it would prevent things like drag-and-drop ranking of items on the board / backlog.

Instead, your options depend upon what type of project you are using:

• For a company-managed project, configure the board to have Swim lanes by Epic
• For a team-managed project, use the Group By Epic to see the same effect

Please note these will order by the ORDER BY of your filter, and likely display by the ranking of the Epics, not by their name in alphabetic ordering.

Hi @Tina St_ Pierre,

As @Bill Sheboy  mentioned, you should first try configuring your agile board to display Swim-lanes by Epics or Group by Epics.

Also, if it happens to have our Great Gadgets app installed, you could use the Team Wallboard gadget to display the issues from the board grouped by Epic. You'll ave to configure Swimlanes: by Epic.

Thank you all for your help!  I was able to create an alternate board to show the view using swimlanes as suggested without altering the current one.  I appreciate the help!
