Is it possible to have a Numeric Custom Field with a tasks Total Logged Work?

In the Estimation Statistic section of Board Settings, the only options are the default selections plus Custom Fields, but only if the custom fields are numeric.

Is there a way to create a custom field that shows the total hours logged for a task?

I assume you want to show total hours logged for a task in the board. Correct?

You can add 'Σ Time Spent' to the card layout on the board which will show you the total time logged.

I do, but the option is still not there. 

Actually if I recall correctly, i remember seeing the option there once, and as soon as i clicked it, it became a string error ID, with some red errors, then it forced changed and disappeared.
