Hi! As an administrator (of jira Software), I can’t integrate Confluence from a Jira Software project. Jira considers that I am not administrator of the project because I cannot add Confluence from my space and I do not receive an email request while my email works properly (I had to change my Jira password without any problem, with receipt of various emails).

It may not be much, but if I can benefit from your help, it would be great!

Welcome to the community @Valina

This is because you are the Jira Administrators. In Jira there are several types of admins:

  • Jira Administrators - The users that have the Administer Jira global permission which enables them to basically do everything from project creation, scheme customisation (workflows, fields, screens, issue types, etc.).
  • Organisation Admins - They manage the part of the admin.atlassian.com, this includes:
    • Users and groups
    • Products
    • Billing
    • Security
    • Organisation settings (general settings)
  • Project Administrators - Users that have the Administrators project roles and they are able to manage everything from the Project Settings menu

The reason you cannot add the Confluence is because you need to be the organisation admin in order to do this. Do you have someone in your company that can make you the organisation administrator.

To do this, following these steps:

  1. Log in to your organization at admin.atlassian.com.

  2. Choose Settings > Administrators.

  3. Click Add administrators.

  4. Enter an Atlassian account email address and click Grant access.

Give users admin permissions

Also, just to give you a little bit of context, next-gen is a type of project and the organization is part of the site administration, so this setting is something that we won't find on project settings, but on Administration or directly on admin.atlassian.com.

Once you get added to this section, your next step is to add the Confluence product.

To do this:

  1. Go to admin.atlassian.com
  2. Select Products
  3. Click on Add Product

         4. Select the Confluence product and give it a name

Once the setup has been complete, you will be able to use the feature that you wanted to use in the first place.

Hi @Valina and welcome to the Community!

Confluence needs to be added to your site by an org administrator. With the right permission level, this can be done from admin.atlassian.com, where Add Product allows you to add Confluence.

Once installed and proper permissions have been granted, you will be able to link a Confluence space to a Jira Software project.

Hope this helps!
