How to setup a consistent Issue Layout for all users?

Halyna Rudych November 25, 2024

Currently we have an issue layout configured in Jira but some users can see it differently.

The goal is to have a consistent view and also put a description field in the top of the layout.

Screenshots are below:

  1. One user has a description field in the top of layout when clicking 'Create'
  2. Another user doesn't

Both users have the same permissions in the settings.

Hello @Halyna Rudych

Your second and third images are for the Create Issue dialog. That dialog is not managed by the Issue Layout screen shown in your first image. Issue Layout manages the layout seen for issues that already exist.

The layout of the Create Issue dialog is impacted by a few different things.

The core of the layout is the Screen configuration for the screen that is assigned to the Create Issue Operation in the Screen Scheme that is associated to the Issue Type being created via the Issue Type Screen Scheme that is associated to the project.

Users also have limited options to modify which fields display in the Create Issue dialog through the Actions menu on the dialog.

I don't believe there is a way to completely lock the layout of the Create Issue dialog based on the options above that are available to the user.
