jira has mentions and that maps to emails. Slack has emails and that maps to DMs/mentions(so in theory this could be done). Can jira (much like pivotal tracker does) post to a channel and mention the same users that are mentioned in the ticket?
Bonus is always updating all people that are mentioned in the ticket, the author and assignee with a simple "Ticket XXX was updated or commented on"
This would keep the whole team up to date on tickets they are interacting with through slack instead of email.
