How to mention a user in jira ticket and alert the user in slack?

jira has mentions and that maps to emails.  Slack has emails and that maps to DMs/mentions(so in theory this could be done).   Can jira (much like pivotal tracker does) post to a channel and mention the same users that are mentioned in the ticket?

Bonus is always updating all people that are mentioned in the ticket, the author and assignee with a simple "Ticket XXX was updated or commented on"

This would keep the whole team up to date on tickets they are interacting with through slack instead of email.

Jira does have a Slack integration that can notify a channel when the issue is updated. You can find out more about the integration here
