How to mark an user story to On-hold status when it is already in In-progress status in Jira?

An user story is already in-progress status but because of various reason we have keep it on on-hold. How to mark an user story to On-hold in Jira?

Hi,

I suggest you to Copy the current workflow and to add another status: On-Hold and check "Allow all statuses to transition to this one".

After this replace the current workflow with the new one.

Since you will Add not Remove a status the issues from the project will not be affected.

After replacing the workflow you cand move the issue from In Progress back to On Hold.
