How to make partial of test case in XRay in pass status

Dear team,

I have defined the test cases, there are some steps included.

In order to verify some change, only partial steps in this test case are required to be executed.

I don't want to create a new test case based on it because there will be lots of duplicated test cases and it is not easy to maintain.  And I don't want to execute all the steps in this test case because it will require more effort.

There is an idea that, we can just run the partial steps which are required and leave other steps in skipped or TODO, but the execution of XRay cannot be set to Pass instead of executing.

So, How I can better handle this? is there a solution for this?

Thank you.

Best, Jing

Hi @jing_guo

I know you can create custom test step statuses, see

https://docs.getxray.app/display/XRAYCLOUD/Global+Settings%3A+Test+Step+Statuses

Would this help?

yes , great that helps.

Can we allow some steps with new status : Skip and some steps with status: Pass, and make the execution as pass in the end?

Hi @jing_guo

Try it out.

I don't have an active license on xray at the moment, so I can't trail this.

I am the JIRA admin, but I cannot find where I can click and access Global Settings: Test Step Statuses to add a new status.

Hi @jing_guo

Via the cog wheel" (right top hand side), choose "Apps".

Select "manage apps", or find the Xray settings in the left toolbar.

There you should find Xray global settings.

This requires Jira admin permissions or higher, being a project admin will not grant you these permissions
