How to make a field required if another field is filled in

james scott August 3, 2016

I want to make "Tester" (a custom field which is a name picker) required but only if another custom field ("Testing Required?") is checkboxed to "Yes".    Is this possible?   Looking over the old questions I see this was asked in 2012 and was hoping for a better answer today than "No" smile

Sadly, still not out of the box. It's been said a thousand times but plugins are the way to go.

JIRA Behaviour plugin is a good one IF you are on an older version of JIRA (prior to 7.0) you can download it free. If on a later JIRA version, then it has been merged with Script Runner and is no longer free. Kinda pricey @ $8000 but totally worth it.

JJUPIN is another one I really like, not quite a powerful but still pretty robust at the much smaller price of $400.

I have both on my instance and really like them but I find JJupin more simple to use at times.

I haven't used the Workflow Toolbox that Kian suggested but it looks pretty cool and comes in at $750.

Good luck.

Hey James! I'd recommend checking out the "JIRA Workflow Toolbox" Plugin. They've got some great conditions and validators you can add to workflows! Check them out here.
