How to clone a full Prod instance to a new Test instance

Dear all,

We have actually a customer running a single Prod Jira instance with different type of configuration, plugins and settings....

We need to setup based on that PROD instance a TEST instance which is an exact copy of the PROD.

By using the Site Export/Import method, does this takes 100% of everything in order to get the TEST instance fully matching PROD or do we need to perform some preliminary installation on TEST instance before importing Prod data ? like installing plugins or does plugins gets install automatically when site import process is run ?

@serge calderara, post restore you'll want to reinstall all of the apps! The only other thing you might need to take a look at is your user management/product access and make sure those are set up how you want.

Do you mean that before restoring the site we need to configure all user account in the TEST instance ?

@serge calderara, no. When you restore one site to another it automatically disables access for basically everyone but site-admins. You'll need to set up access if you want other people to have access to the site.

Dear @Kian Stack Mumo Systems , so if I undertsand well the steps are as below :

1- Create the test Instance

2 - Add all same plugins which are in Prod instance
3- Perform site restore on test instance
4 - Give access to application

Is that flow correct ?

If I understand well user account will be automatically created from prod backup into Test instance correct as well ?
