How to assign an idea to a particular status based on who creates the idea

Is there a way to have an idea assigned to a particular status based on who creates it? I can create a workflow but unlike other Jira products, the product discovery has only one workflow and single issueType. I would like multiple teams to be able to create ideas, but have those ideas assigned to a parking lot based on who creates them. 

Currently all ideas no matter who creates them go to one status (that is "proposed" status).

Are you asking if the status can be transitioned based upon the user who created the Idea?

If so, I believe an admin for the Jira Product Discovery (JPD) project could create an automation rule to do that transition.

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

It would be possible, you would have to modify the workflow that you are using in JPD and then have an automation that transitions the idea to the right status based on the reporter.

I would like the idea to be in a particular status at the start of the idea creation based on the user/group.
