How can I link an Epic when creating a new Issue?

Question

I'm working in a next-gen project, and there is no "Link Epic" option when I'm creating a new issue.

The only fields I'm able to select are

* Assignee
* Attachment
* Description
* Flagged
* Labels
* Linked Issues
* Sprint
* Summary

How can I add Epic to this list so that I can link the epic at the same time as creating the issue, rather than having to go back to each issue later and link it?

Hi @Terry - In next-gen Jira Software, the Epic link field doesn't exist. There's currently a feature request open to have this implemented, which you can follow/vote on/comment on here.

Otherwise, there are two ways to have an issue assigned to an epic at the point of creation:

* On the roadmap, you can hover over an epic and select + Add a child issue

* On the board/backlog, if you have an epic selected in the epic filter, any issues you create will automatically be added to that epic.
