I am attempting to make use of the Timeline view on one of my JIRA work management projects to visualize the activity of my sprint. I have filtered the view of the timeline to show only tasks where my IsInSprint (custom field) = Yes. (shown in orange)
I have two subtasks of issue PREF-75 (PREF-84 and PREF-85) that have dependencies to other tasks within my sprint, and are showing correctly on my timeline view. (shown in green)
However, I want to be able to drag and drop the subtasks to reorder the rows that are showing in my timeline. The timeline view allows me to drag and drop the TASKS, but not the SUBTASKS. (shown in red)
The help suggests that I can reorder tasks, and that the subtasks will remain connected to their parent. This is not true while the view is filtered.
Edit and reorder issues on the timeline | Jira Work Management Cloud | Atlassian Support
I have been able to order my timeline to display as I want it to, by reordering the tasks around the fixed-position subtasks, but this won't work as my project expands, if I want to visualise subtask dependencies.
Is this intended behaviour? Or should I raise this as a bug?
Best Regards,
Tom.
As stated in the documentation you linked.
"Select the issue name and drag it up or down to reorder it. If the issue has child issues, they’ll remain with their parent issue. Your changes will be reflected in the board and list views as well."
So child issues will follow their parent and so can't be individually ordered on a timeline
