Hello,
I seem to have encountered an issue where I am unable to use the fix version, though the reason behind it is unclear to me.
I created and ran an automation process to synchronize the fix version of child tasks with that of the epic, and it was successful. However, now I find myself unable to modify the Fix version for any issue type within the project.
I was able to edit the fix version previously, and I have other projects configured similarly without any issues.
I would greatly appreciate any assistance with this matter.
Hi @Colin Douglas -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
When you noted this:
However, now I find myself unable to modify the Fix version for any issue type within the project.
Do you mean you cannot do so with an automation rule or when manually editing the field?
If with an automation rule, please post an image of the audit log details showing the rule execution. That will may provide some context for what is happening.
Kind regards,
Bill
Hi Bill,
I'm unable to manually edit the field.
While I can adjust the field when creating a new issue, once it's created, it becomes locked and can't be altered.
Here is the successful automation, right after is succeeded it "Release" (Fix Version) became unclickable.

Something else is doing that, and not the rule you are showing.
Are you using the free license of Jira Cloud, or some other license level?
Has anyone removed the Fix Version field from the issue edit views?
Has anyone changed the configuration of the Resolve Issue permission in administration?
