Feature request: Non Field Page elements in Jira - Enhancements for Automation

Anthony Martin August 1, 2017

Dear Atlassian Dev Wizards

Please can we have some new elements to make pages more useful within Jira and Jira service desk?

You've touched on field-itis here: https://www.atlassian.com/blog/jira-software/8-steps-to-jira-field-greatness

Well, we're at risk of catching it. I don't want loads of different pages, for subtyle changes in purpose, or additional scereen schemes as it just creates admin-burden having to manage a whole set of other pages.

So, when adding fields onto a page under Admin "Configure Screen" can we have the ability to add something other than fields to a page?

Like:

  • H1, H2, and H3 titles
  • Tickboxes alongside fields to make them Read Only on this page only! i.e still editable on every other page, but so they can be provided for viewing on this page, allowing an agent to make decisions based on data displayed by the pages.
  • Page Text (as guidance / field information text - support to help people find their way around screens (show in red on the image)

All elements would be drag and droppable around the screen to allow their order to be changed and would basically work like existing field element containers.

This really would open up a lot more potential for User Driven automations / workflows within Jira. Silewnt Automation is great, but sometimes, involving users in the process and allowing them to make decisions based on data presented to them is really useful.

Thanks

Anthony

Hi Anthony,

Thank you for the feature request.  I went ahead and created JRASERVER-65728 for this Suggestion.  Please go to JRASERVER-65728 and vote on the issue and add any additional comments to the ticket you believe the devs may find relevant.

In the future, if you have an awesome idea you can also go to JAC and create a Suggestion.  This will mark you as the reporter and you will not need to go vote on the issue to be notified of any changes.

Cheers,

Branden
