I'm new to creating tasks in Jira and I accidentally created a duplicate that needs to be permanently removed. There was no option for deleting duplicates or deleting anything. Thanks!

Where are you looking to find the option to Delete an issue?

If you have sufficient permissions (refer to @Brant Schroeder 's response) then you will find the option by clicking the three-dots button in the upper right corner of the issue.

Jira allows you to delete issues.  Jira administrators can change permissions on a project to prevent this.  Are you a Jira administrator?
