Creating New Project Backlog - stop notifications on created tasks

When I create a new project, we have a lead who is the 'assignee' on most of the tasks, to start with.  The problem is they then receive numerous email notifications when I create a new project, how do I stop this just for newly created tasks?

I still want them to receive notifications on any updates to the task, just not the created task.

We are using the JIRA Cloud software.

Thanks!

You would need to edit the  notification scheme  and change the settings on the create issue event. Most likely the assignee is listed there and is causing these notifications

Thank you, but I don't see 'Notification Schemes' in my list under Issues. I checked how to create notification schemes, and it says go to the same list under Issues, and find 'Notificaiton Schemes' and create from there. But I don't even have that option?

you might be using a next-gen project and that feature isn't available yet... see here

Maybe you should change it to a classic project instead, here is a useful doc for it
